We are pleased to report that from our Robotics enrichment, we have three UMS teams that have been invited to the Global Invitational Round for Wonder Robotics. This next round of competition commences March 1st to April 1st. Congratulations to our Wonder League competitors.
Our GATE (7N) class is participating in “The Great Canadian Mail Race”. Basically, it is what it states; it is an opportunity of encouraging grade seven students across Canada to participate in formal letter writing. The race aspect is the fun part to see who gets a response first. UMS decided to participate as we received a letter from a student from Kinsley, Saskatchewan! It was a fun activity to incorporate into language class, as it promotes writing, letter writing literacy (something that seems forgotten in this day and age) and getting to learn about and share something culturally with another student. The students really had a fun time being a part of this initiative! Recently, our Grade 6 classes conducted their hands-on scientific experiment with the objective of exploring what happens to potato trips when they are placed in different concentrations of black current juice and speak to explain the outcomes as it pertains to osmosis.
In February, we hosted our Annual Public Speaking Festival for the Grade Three to Eight students. We were pleased to congratulate our top competitors and enjoyed listening to a wide array of entertaining and thought-provoking speech topics. Congratulations!
