In the last month, the Grade 2 and 3 students have been working on the presentations of the French plays:‘Le chat et la lune’ / ‘The cat and the moon’ and ‘Boucles Violettes et les trois ours’ / Goldilocks and the three bears’. It was so refreshing to see the students’ developing skills and joy in their faces as they were presenting with confidence and great enthusiasm! This is what is uniquely successful about the AIM approach. The AIM gesture method is a method of teaching in which students are able to build language skills in dramatic arts, choreography, music, oral storytelling, public speaking, the writing process, interaction and meaningful communication, all this in French! Teaching with the AIM gestures is a wonderful enhancement to the acquisition of language and to retention of information. The gestures help students rapidly internalize this beautiful language. Although AIM always ensures the development of oral language, there is an equal emphasis on the development of excellent oral and written language skills! We would like to offer our sincere appreciation to our Grade Eight hosts of the French presentations.
