Computers are a large part of our world today. Students in our school will use technologies in the workplace that have not been discovered yet. The computer world is changing rapidly and UMS is equipping children to be able to navigate this world with ease
Our graduating Senior Casa students are enjoying learning the basics of coding and robotics again this year. They have been working with coding app called “Tynker” and are continuing to use ABCMouse.com and Scratch Jr in class. They are having fun learning with Code Studio and using the Dash & Dot Robots to put the theory they have learned into practice. As UMS uses these programmes as part of its Elementary computer curriculum, it will assist in a smooth transition for those students who will be attending our UMS Grade 1 in the fall. The graduates also explore Augmented Reality using the App “Virtuali-tee”. The younger Senior Casa students have also been introduced to coding using Scratch Jr. and Code Hopper and are progressing well! All Pre, Junior and Senior Casa students at UMS are working on their mouse, keyboarding and typing skills and exploring MS Word. They are also enjoying eveloping their skills using Montessori apps on the iPads.
Benefitting from the small class sizes, students have ample time to work directly with the computers, ipads and robots! Consequently, as they progress through the curriculum, students are able to use increasingly advanced programmes, becoming familiar with the many different features and functions of the technology.
