Making the Right Partnerships

  • WE Schools

We are pleased to have a partnership with is WE Schools/Me to We. WE/ME to WE, formerly known as Free The Children, is a worldwide development charity and youth empowerment movement founded in 1995 by human rights advocates Marc and Craig Kielburger. Their motto is “Making doing good, doable.” Some of the campaigns UMS will be taking a part in this year and in years to come include: WE walk for Water – Raising awareness about clean and safe water, WE Scare Hunger – Support for our local Markham Food bank, WE Rise Above – Online safety anti-bullying campaign – standing up for what is right, WE are One – learning about people with disabilities and explore how you can use technology to make a community more inclusive, and WE go Green – Eco-school and environmental awareness programs regarding recycling, reducing, and reusing.

  • Small Schools Athletic Federation

The Small Schools Athletic Federation was developed to provide small schools and/or independent schools with a definite avenue for, but not limited by, the expression of physical talents. Our purpose is multi-fold. We want to provide girls and boys with the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities at a higher level of skill than generally found in the intramural program. The Federation of small schools also encourages students to participate in activities in a climate of fair play and sportsmanship.

  • Markham Public Library

Our partnership with the Markham Public Library enhances our services to our school community. The partnership with MPL enables our students to have 24/7 access to library materials including books, e-books, on-line catalogues and databases. Students and parents will be able to reserve and renew books on their home devices. Teachers will be able to create book lists for students who can also create their own “shelves” of books that they have read. They can then share these with other students and with their teachers.
